Outlook Express is one of  the most widely used email clients and is used for downloading emails from server to hard disk. You can compose emails offline and send them when you are connected to the internet.

Most of the Outlook Express error messages are due to problems with the internet connection, not the software on your computer.

If  you are trying to download emails, when the internet connection is not established

The host 'mail.**.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'mail.***.com', Server: 'mail.***.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

You should try to fix your internet connection

While sending emails you may get the following error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.**.com', Server: 'smtp.**.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

To prevent spam most ISPs block error messages sent using email addresses from any other ISP address. Also some ISP do not provide an email with POP3/SMTP , you can only access your webmail.

Gmail can be used with most ISPs, but a secure connection is required for both incoming and outgoing email.  The server port numbers for outgoing email (SMTP) are 465 and incoming email (POP3) are 995.
